چکیده

In this paper we undertake a large crossdomain investigation of sentiment domain adaptation, challenging the practical necessity of sentiment domain adaptation algorithms. We first show that across a wide set of domains, a simple “all-in-one” classifier that utilizes all available training data from all but the target domain tends to outperform published domain adaptation methods. A very simple ensemble classifier also performs well in these scenarios. Combined with the fact that labeled data nowadays is inexpensive to come by, the “kitchen sink” approach, while technically nonglamorous, might be perfectly adequate in practice. We also show that the common anecdotal evidence for sentiment terms that “flip” polarity across domains is not borne out em-

Kitchen Sink Drama and Naturalism: Trends of Post-War English Theatre

The present paper studies Kitchen Sink Drama and Naturalism to investigate how a cultural movement through which artists like Arnold Wesker, John Osborne, and Shelagh Delaney express their disillusionment during the post-war period representing the reality of their lives via theatre. The period of 1956–1965 can be considered as a period of time identifying post-war British theatre which is rela...

CROSS-DOMAIN SENTIMENT CLASSIFICATION USING GRAMS DERIVED FROM SYNTAX TREES AND AN ADAPTED NAIVE BAYES APPROACH by SRILAXMI CHEETI

There is an increasing amount of user-generated information in online documents, including user opinions on various topics and products such as movies, DVDs, kitchen appliances, etc. To make use of such opinions, it is useful to identify the polarity of the opinion, in other words, to perform sentiment classification. The goal of sentiment classification is to classify a given text/document as ...

Sentiment Domain Adaptation with Multiple Sources

Domain adaptation is an important research topic in sentiment analysis area. Existing domain adaptation methods usually transfer sentiment knowledge from only one source domain to target domain. In this paper, we propose a new domain adaptation approach which can exploit sentiment knowledge from multiple source domains. We first extract both global and domain-specific sentiment knowledge from t...

Do Topic-Dependent Models Improve Microblog Sentiment Estimation?

A topic-independent sentiment model is commonly used to estimate sentiment in microblogs. But for movie and product reviews, domain adaptation has been shown to improve sentiment estimation performance. We examined whether topicdependent models improve polarity estimation of microblogs. We considered both a model trained on Twitter tweets containing a target keyword and a model trained on an en...

Adapting Naive Bayes to Domain Adaptation for Sentiment Analysis

In the community of sentiment analysis, supervised learning techniques have been shown to perform very well. When transferred to another domain, however, a supervised sentiment classifier often performs extremely bad. This is so-called domain-transfer problem. In this work, we attempt to attack this problem by making the maximum use of both the old-domain data and the unlabeled new-domain data....
